Little is known of the Vegan Tyranny beyond legends. It is believed that they originated in the Vega System and communications with the colonizing Triciatu indicated that they had lived as a multi-system society that preyed on others to enrich themselves, but were based on the south eastern continent of Vega IX.
Reports from multiple sources indicate they were active in at least ten star systems and were the controlling power over those systems for at least three hundred years. Then at some point in the late 1900s to early 2000s of Earth time, made a critical error and sythetically developed a bacteria that spread through their people like fire, and burned them all down. In a matter of twenty years, they ceased to exist as a people. Their servitors rose up and took what they could, often destroying any trace of the Vegan tyranny from their histories.
The Triciatu had been taken as slaves, and when freed by the arrival of thousands of their kind, all chose to stay in their ruins and make a home there. This was on Vega IX.
History[]
Few records remain, but archeological and anthropological studies in the North East, Mount Sinai region, found that the Vegan Tyranny were actually a cybernetically enhanced race. When trade with the servitors remaining in their ruins was engaged, a disease the Triciatu were immune to, was passed to the humans of Vega Colony. It was named 'Vegan Choriomeningitis', and it was bacterial infection that proved fatal if not properly treated with bio-engineered antibiotics. The disease was released again in the 2200s when another facility belonging to the the original Vegans was discovered and opened up.
What can be understood from the clues left behind, they were space faring, and had warp capable starships. They collected valuable technology from those they conquered, and preferred to conquer with overwhelming threat of force rather than force itself in order to capture all the possible assets. They would then incorporate the technologies and advancements they discovered into their own society, to feed their own advancement through feeding off the talents of others.
