The USS Sentinel (NCC-99014) is a Sentinel-class ship in service of the 22nd Mobile Daedalus, and the sixth starship to bear the name. As of 2420 she was the latest ship put into service by the 22nd fleet, in many ways becoming the most advanced combat-capable ship in their arsenal .

"What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog." - Dwight D. Eisenhower, quoted on the Sentinel's Dedication Plaque

The Sentinel group operates on Sunday nights from 8 PM to 11 PM, EST, and is currently run by DGM Soft Kitty.

USS Sentinel (NCC-13)Edit

Sentinel was one of several NX-class ships planned, but was not built until after the formation of the Federation. Launched in the mid-2160's, Sentinel was tasked with exploring the outer edge of Federation space.  In 2169, the ship was attacked by what were later determined to be Orion pirates, and the ship was lost with all hands.

USS Sentinel (NCC-1733)Edit

The first Federation Sentinel was a Constitution-class starship, registry NCC-1733, active sometime in the late 23rd century. Little is known about the ship, other than small skirmishes on the Federation-Klingon Border. The Sentinel was destroyed in 2293, with all hands.

USS Sentinel (NCC-1733-A)Edit

The second USS Sentinel (NCC-1733-A) was an Akira-class starship operational during the Dominion War. She was destroyed during the last major engagements of the war, with all hands.

USS Sentinel (NCC-1733-B)Edit

In honor of the heroic actions of that ship, the next Sovereign-class starship was named the Sentinel with registry number NCC-1733-B. She served for two years under Captain Marcus Brennan, until an encounter with the Hur'q drove most of the crew insane. The starship was destroyed with all hands.

USS Sentinel (NCC-93014)Edit

The second to last U.S.S. Sentinel was built and commissioned on June 16th, 2399 at the Antares Fleet Yards. For the initial shakedown, she was transfered to the 3rd Fleet under the command of Captain John Ramsey. She saw mostly boarder patrol before the War but was pressed into full combat duty once the third Federation-Klingon War broke out. The ship served the 3rd Fleet with distinction and honor for almost 10 years, but was eventually seen as too badly damaged in the eyes of Command and was scheduled for decomissioning in early 2410. She was transfered to the 22nd Mobile on September 12, 2410.

Deep space 9

Deep Space 9, with the USS Sentinel docked.

The Sentinel sat idle for nearly 5 years until 2415, when Admiral Donaldson reactivated the ship and placed Commander Joyaus Dalun in command. The ship was repaired and rearmed, though her initial activies around Deep Space 9 were fairly limited. However, in May of the same year, the Sentinel moved to K-7 with the rest of the fleet, and began assisting in the operations there.

For the majority large-scale engagement, the Sentinel was involved in scouting and patrol missions. However, toward the end of the engagement, the 6th fleet was ordered to retreat, and the Sentinel and Adagio taskforces were ordered to assist. Unfortunately for them, the lead ship in the Sentinel taskforce was taken over by a saboteur, and the 6th fleet was rerouted to a new path. Simultaneously, the Sentinel herself was ambushed by several Nausicaan ships. Only the Sentinel's toughness and her crew's quick thinking allowed them to survive. Despite the treachery, both taskforces and the remaining 6th fleet ships were returned to safety, including Admiral Razzor.

In December of 2419 the Sentinel was damaged beyond repair and subsequently destroyed, the crew were relocated to the latest Sentinel which took the form of a Sentinel-class Heavy Cruiser.

After a long bloody battle, the Station's defenses hold and the 3rd Fleet retreats. The Sentinel is heavily damaged and towed to Starbase 418 for repairs. Among the list of casualties is Captain Kalosha Vosk. Her XO, Commander Nicholas Simmons, assumes command of the Sentinel.
  • December 20th, 2409 - The 3rd Fleet is called into action to defend the Vega System from a Borg invasion. The colony is saved and the Borg defeated, but the Sentinel is severely damaged. The majority of the ship's crew is killed in action (including Commander Simmons). The ship is abandoned via escape pod, with only 6 of the ship's 48 crewmen surviving.
  • January 9th, 2410 - The Sentinel is recovered from the Vega system and deemed too badly damaged to be repaired. She is scheduled for decommissioning and towed to the Antares Fleet Yards.
  • September 12, 2410 - By order of Fleet Admiral Quinn, the U.S.S. Sentinel is transfered to the 22nd Mobile (Fleet Daedalus Omega). She is towed to the Daedalus Omega Fleet Yards for eventual repairs and to return to full active duty.

  • Late 2415 - The Sentinel undergoes a complete retrofitting, which upgrades the entire ship to the Block IV standard.
  • Early 2416 - The Sentinel encounters and eliminates a Klingon attempt to recreate the Genesis device. While escaping the ensuing explosion, the Sentinel is badly damaged, resulting in 5 deaths (including Lieutenant K'Tali, and several injuries.  Lieutenant Commander Tiberius Asada and Commander Joyaus Dalun were also presumed dead, but were revived under as-yet-unexplained circumstances.
  • December 2416 - Sentinel is engaged by Tholian ships employing what appeared to be a variation on the interphase cloaking device.  Successfully defeats all three in succession, but not without the loss of the Akira-class Carolina and severe damage to the Sentinel and Arcadia.
  • May 2417 - Sentinel is pressed into service defending New Romulus from two massive "clouds" bearing a strong resemblence to V'ger.  Sentinel is forced to enter the imediate area of one cloud while rescuing the crerw of the Caroline, and encounters an Iconian "pleasure station" in the process.
  • June 2417 - Sentinel is engaged by several Iconian probes in orbit of New Romulus.   These probes all appear to be only partially functional, but their sheer numbers threaten to overwhelm the combined forces of the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans.
  • July 2417 - Sentinel is attacked by unknown elements.  Upon further investigation, the crew discovers a potential plot involving the USS Trebuchet, a fellow Defiant class ship.  The Sentinel enters the Azure Nebula and rescues the Trebuchet from a third unidentified Defiant.
  • September 2417 - Sentinel discovers a Borg sphere attempting to create a transwarp conduit.   The sphere is destroyed, but not before the loss of several crewmen.
  • November 2417 - Sentinel is called to assist New Romulus as tectonic activity increases to dangerous levels.  They soon discover the cause to be an Iconian gateway, and rush to the Jourette System as a large ship-sized gateway appears.
  • December 2417 - After securing a newly-discovered ship-sized gateway, the Sentinel ventures through and emerges into a large Dyson Sphere.   Immediately after arrival, the Sentinel's task force comes under fire from Voth ships, and suffers some casualties, including Captain Desaj of the USS Acheron.
  • January 2418 - A Romulan known as T'lena is brought aboard via courior.   Accompanying orders reveal that a virus has been found in Starfleet systems, and T'lena has created a program to erase it. After initial testing, however, T'lena and two Sentinel crew members are exposed and arrested as part of a Tal Shiar plot.   An unidentified Mogai attacks the Sentinel, but is driven off despite the Sentinel's internal crisis.
  • April 2418 - Sentinel is pulled from shore leave for an emergency mission involving a Federation Colony and Tholians.  An ancient vessel that appears to be an Artificial Intelligence is found, and appears to have been the cause of the colony's destruction, albeit unintentionally.  Soon after this vessel revealed itself, another entity appeared, and a relatively short battle ensued.  The Sentinel and her new ally emerged victorious, and the Sentinel returns to port.
  • December 7, 2419 - The Sentinel is heavily damaged by Iconian forces in the final battle for Earth. The crew was forced to abandon ship, leaving the Sentinel on a collision course for an Iconian dreadnought. The Sentinel was destroyed on impact as the crew's lifepods were picked up by the USS Pilgrim.

USS Sentinel (NCC-99014)Edit

The latest USS Sentinel to be designed and commissioned was launched in 2420 under the command of the Captain of the Sentinel just prior, Captain Joyaus Dalun. She was a part of Task Force: Delta, a special operations taskforce subset of Starfleet Command.

Major Events Timeline: Edit

  • April, 2420 - The USS Sentinel (NCC-99014) is completed and launched under the command of Captain Joyaus Dalun with most of the remaining crew of the prior USS Sentinel (NCC-93014).
  • August, 2421 - The Sentinel is severely damaged by the detonation of a Tzenkethi protomatter bomb. Similar to the incident aboard the previous Sentinel, this event resulted in the incapacitation of almost the entire senior staff, and the death or injury of a third of the crew.
