The people of the planet Delta Triciatu (translation of Dhei-Lta), are a peaceful, insular people who do not open themselves well to outsiders and with reason. Genetically, they share some markers with the Seyalian people, though they may have more to do with the sharing of the same White Dwarf star Lta. The Triciatu, of course, refer to their sun as "Delta Triciatu", the same term is used for their planet.
It took many negotiations of diplomats to even discover, the use of the same words have drastically different meanings. While when used for their sun, it is reference to "a god of growth, change and renewal". When used for the world, it is "she who accepts and is changed, renewed by the god". The intonations are beyond subtle, requiring a telepathic component to understand the differences. As it is with much of their language. The Triciatu do not share their minds with outsiders, and much of their communications is telepathic.
The Triciatu world is approximately .9g Earth Standard Sea Level. Barely 15% of their world is considered habitable as it is mostly water, and by last UFP census, there was barely thirty million people living on their homeword. The Triciatu are extremely long lived, and usually will only reproduce once in their lifetime. Their respect of life, is extreme. It is as such they live in harmony with their world, it's fish and birds. They do not eat the flesh of animals, but do eat the flesh of fish for religious ceremony, even then it is more in terms of sacrifice than physical sustenance. Their diet seems to be largely wild growth fruits, waterborne plants, mushrooms and lichen.
There is no Federation mission or embassy on their world, as part of their negotiations to join the United Federation of Planets involved a concession matching that of Seyalia (Delta IV), in which the Triciatu representative has embassy facilities on the Seyann Moon, alongside the Seyalian embassy. The last delegation allowed on the homeworld was lead by Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan in 2223 and his family.
Lifecycle[]
The Triciatu come to age of majority at one hundred of their stellar cycles. Their stellar cycles are equal to .68 Earth Solar Years (5960 [FS] Hours), and are divided into ten constellation periods (596hrs), made up of ten day/night cycles each. An average day will provide roughly 20 hours of daylight, and twenty hours of night, separated by ten hours of twilight and predawn each. They are physically mature in only twenty cycles, it is their mental and societal training that holds them back from joining society as an equal adult. According to discussions with United Federation of Planets ambassadors, their average lifespan is five hundred of their years (348 Earth Yrs), with the eldest of them living more than twice this long. Their most recent Prim, was said to have lived to see 2,000 Himsamkara, translation was believed to mean years marked by a yearly event.
Triciatu do not bond for life, they will tend to bond in extended groups, but each female will only produce one adult child in their lifetime. They are capable of more, in fact the royal family will produce as many as three offspring per female, but the Triciatu seem to be quite capable of choosing to conceive only when they wish it. Once they have raised a child to adulthood, they believe their duty to reproduce is complete.
Little is known as to what homelife is like, as they have yet to reveal this to outsiders.
Caste System[]
The Triciatu have a strict caste system in place, this was observed by the Federation Ambassadorial mission in 2223, and has been confirmed to still be in place as of 2400 by the Triciatu ambassador Mayasik'eela. Unlike caste systems known throughout the galaxy, this one is not solely determined by birth. A testing is performed once a child is reaching sexual maturity to determine their talents and predilections. The test provides opportunity to take residence with life people and learn their trades and skills, growing them for the betterment of all Triciatu.
- Acharayan; the religious caste, marked by Monastic orders, which make up roughly 10%
- Shudran; the worker caste, so named by the sweat that rains from their skin, which make up roughly 70%
- Vaishayan; the artisans and craftsman caste, which make up 20%
History[]
The Triciatu went to the stars in sail ships to explore their system for thousands of years. They consider it to be a meditative communion with the spirit of their star to be in space with it. Their technology for space travel is very much a passive functioning of navigation, they do not maintain a fleet. There is a small colony, consisting of a monastery of a kind on Delta V. With their communications being such that telepathy is such a deep part, they do not enjoy separation from their people for any great distance. It is believed, from the Seyalian accounts, that they encountered each other while exploring local space and merely agreed to remain separate.
There are records that indicate it is possible their stellar sail ships may have traveled to a number of systems within a hundred light years of home. It is questionable if they ever returned home from those sojourns however.
Roughly 1900ce or so, the Triciatu encountered another species on their stellar winds. The account is unverified, but it is believed that they may have followed the course back to their homeworld, which is how it is believed the Vegan Tyranny found them. The Vegan Tyranny had built an outpost on Delta III, captured and were enslaving thousands of young Triciatu to mine the crystal that is the heart of their society and technology valued for its harmonics. It did not go well for the Vegan Tyranny, within a generation they succumbed to a disease of their own making. It spread so fast in the outpost as to leave their outpost and ships behind on Delta III for the Triciatu to claim.
Using the Vegan Tyranny starships, a thousands of the you adults who had been forced to labor, who were seeking some kind of answer as why this cruel people invaded them. They had learned some of this cruelty from them, and some wanted vengeance. Dozens of ships, packed with thousands of their youngest adults left their homeworld for the first time. The Prima did not approve, but did not stop them. When the ships found the Vegan Tyranny, they landed among one of the cities of the Vegan Tyranny, expecting some sort of confrontation. They were surprised to find all had perished, in recent years. The investigating of their former oppressors, lead them to discover a fully functioning infrastructure. They chose to remain, and form a colony there among the ruins as they learned of a multi-system spanning culture.
The colony culture changed significantly from the homeworld, based on their experiences. It is a tragedy that they were wiped out in 2409, because after only 400 years on their own, a lot of their culture had adjusted, including multiple children to a mated pair being normal.
