The fourth planet in the Delta star system, as per the early United Federation of Planets star charts Seyalia is known as Delta IV which was a mistaken translation of what the natives told the explorers was Dhei Lta.

The Seyalian people have two names for their world, much like Earth is known as Terra in some of their writings, Seyalia is known as Dhei in some of theirs. It is the fourth planet of the Lta star, which is known as Delta Triciatu in Earth star charts, and just Delta in others.

The first Earth contact with people of their star system came from the Triciatu colonists on Vega IX, who shared the location of the home star with trade partners of Vega Colony in the early 2100s. A trade vessel used the information learned from Vega Colony of the location of Delta Triciatu, when turned away from their world they made contact with the Seyalian people in late 2141. The crew of the ECS Horizon chose not to reveal the exact location of their world because of the risk of over exposure to what they thought was a hypersexualized society, but did include it in their trade triangle as a profit.

Though the Seyalian people had learned in small groups to utilize technology shared with them by the Triciatu to go to space, they did not tend to venture far from home. They were barely outside of their own star system when they encountered the Horizon. There are those that believe if the crew had met a larger group, they too would have been driven insane by the pheromones alone. The Seyalian people did not like to go far from home, voyages of near light speed were accomplished, not much more than a year or more and back.

The second point of contact, was more than 10 years after the last contact with the crew of the Horizon. In April 2165 the USS Essex, a science team representing Starfleet and the new United Federation of Planets made contact with a very welcoming Seyalia. While leaders of the Seyalian people were meeting with the commanders and representatives on board the Essex, the people welcomed the crew to visit their cities on the surface. Relations were broken after an accusation of mental sexual assault upon two of the visiting crew members who had become overwhelmed by the pheromones and seductive behavior that is normal for the Seyalian people. It was a misunderstanding, a month later in answering a request for aid after an Orion crew had captured thirty Seyalian citizens, the Captain of the Essex came to understand the culture and possible dangers. This was the catalyst for the Seyalian Union to bar visitors to their world.

The Triciatu people had contact with the Seyalians beginning in Earth year 1661, when one of their stellar wind ships landed making first contact. They have had a close relationship with their neighboring world in the centuries since, albeit through mostly other than face to face communications. The Triciatu have maintained an embassy on the moon of Seyann since the early 23rd century, where both worlds maintain as a contact point with the United Federation of Planets. Neither people allows outsiders to come to their planets for the protection of visitors. Seyann has full trade facilities, and is quite welcoming to visitors as well trained citizens of Seyalia staff the facilities, there is even an annex of the Starfleet Academy located there, welcoming students to learn of the wider galaxy.

The Seyalian people also maintain trade and visitor facilities on a second moon of Cinera, welcoming outsiders to enjoy Seyalian hospitality and culture, without risking inherent dangers of the surface of Seyalia.

Government[]

The Seyalian Union, also translated as Deltan Union, is an elected body representing the Seyalian people with a prime minister at its head. Ambhat City is the capital city of the Seyalian Union.

The Seyalian people took themselves to space, to build their trade embassies on their largest two moons Cinera, and Seyann where they also play host to multiple Embassies, and an annex of Starfleet Academy. Seyalia officially joined the United Federation of Planets in 2223. Humanoid visitors are restricted to visiting the moons for their own protection to avoid overstimulation by natural pheromones among the population centers.

Society[]

In the 2420s, the planet reported a population of roughly four billion. As Seyalians preferred to live close together, their planet was famous for its many cities and cosmopolitan personality. The cities were gleaming, with tall spires and domes, and dense with meeting places, such as restaurants, music halls, dance clubs, shopping centers, debating halls, and so on, for people to meet and talk. The people focus primarily on cultural matters.

The Seyalian space program was not a unified or defined program until after being attacked by the Orions, and making peace with the United Federation of Planets in 2165, a concerted effort to apply their sciences to going to space put them to building domed facilities on their own moon of Seyann within fifteen years. The Seyalian people developed their first working warp drive in 2223, and were then approached for full membership in the United Federation of Planets later in 2223.

History[]

Prior to contact with the Federation, Dhei Lta was already a famously cosmopolitan world. The first contacts were with Andorians, while later contacts with humans were described as "quirky", as neither side knew what to expect of the other. Dhei Lta joined the Federation in 2223, the same year that the Seyalians became warp-capable.

It is quite possible first contact was made with other races and worlds, though no history of it exists on Seyalia. Their first craft capable of interplanetary, and in fact interstellar flight, was launched with traded technology from the Triciatu in Earth year 1672. The Skydancer and its crew of six left their solar system just under a year after first launch. It was powered by a fusion reactor which as a biproduct produced oxygen, and a graviton bubble. This provided a microgravity environment, and the ability to use directed gravitational fields for propulsion. Additional propulsion was performed with Solar Sails. The crew and ship were never known to be heard from again, and no record exists of its fate on Seyalia.

Environment[]

Dhei Lta was a Class M world. It had a cool temperate climate, a thin atmosphere and a 20 standard hour day. The sky was a soft blue thanks to its parent star. The planet was characterized by turbulent tropical oceans, small continents and island chains. These were usually covered with lush forests and jungles, with deep valleys and jagged mountains. Large swathes of the planet remained undeveloped, so much of it appeared wild and untamed, offering a number of natural attractions.

The planet's soil was highly fertile, enabling many plants from across the Federation to easily adapt to the climate and take root.

It had a total surface area of 625,000,000 square kilometers and, with 60% land mass, a total land area of 375,000,000 square kilometers. About 55% of its makeup was normal metals, 15% was radioactive elements, 10% was gemstones, and it had only trace amounts of special minerals and industrial crystals.
