History[]
East Gideon was founded originally as Gideon's Redoubt on May 5, 2123, by members of the LDS Church colonists. The Moroni was disassembled and used to build the initial shelters and utilities until the settler's own industry could provide for them. The LDS Church was an insular group, finding it difficult to trust others which is why they had chosen to settle on a different continent than the Vega Concern. The only contact with another group they allowed was the trade negotiated with the Clan Badi who had chosen not to settle on the planet but to establish a station in orbit and mine the asteroids. The trade was highly beneficial as the land of Vega IX proved to be highly arable, but usable ores tended to run in veins deep under ground in the region of Gideon's Redoubt, and the space based colonists had no land yet to farm.
In November of 2128, a second colony ship containing Clan Badi arrived, and due to the relationship their predecessors had grown with the LDS Colonists both groups agreed that joining causes and settling together was most advantageous. The ECS Hieronymus was not a ship destined to be grounded. It was carrying drop pods full of the supplies very needed, including livestock and fresh seedstock. The Badi colonists settled just across what LDS Colonists had named the Hiddekel River. The village the Badi built they named Schronienie, the Romani word for shelter.
In 2400, one of the few remaining structures of the settlement was the memorial placed in the mid 24
Three month laters, the entire colony group was settled into housing in Schronienie village just to the south of the Hiddekel River, with the LDS Church village of Gideon's Redoubt just across the river to the north. Eoin was pleased to know that the first colony group had been working with their neighbors for most of seven years already, trading and sharing company. It was something of an amusement to Eoin that while their first colony group was ninety percent men, the LDS Church mission was only thirty percent men.
It was just after this that the memorial was placed in remembrance of the fifteen lost on the second crossing. The Badi Colonists recorded that together these two colonies would become the city of East Gideon.
East Gideon was destroyed or assimilated in 2409. New hope came with Vega United, and the new efforts of 2425.
