Biography[]
Patrick Seán Daly was recorded in his family bible as named Pádraig Seaghán NíDaleigh, using the old Irish Gaelic which his family had made effort to keep alive along with others of the village of Newcastle, County Down. Raised primarily by his mother in the coastal town along the northeastern coast of Ireland, Patrick became enamored of his home village. Commander Kaiden Daly served in Starfleet and was away more than he was home for the first 10 years of Patrick's life.
Patrick was born near the end of the Dominion war, sadly within just a short time later to see the deaths of his two half brothers. His mother and father had only been married for about a year when he was born. His parents had bonded over the loss of LT. Kay Daly, Aoibhín's best friend and Kaiden's wife of twenty-one years as well as the mother to his two boys. Among the first casualties of the Dominion war, LT. Kay Daly left a void which was felt in the family keenly. Patrick's brothers both enlisted as soon as the word of war with the Dominion was released.
Patrick spent the first decade of his life never understanding why his father needed to be away from home, and the second decade attempting to be able to follow in his footsteps. He found a passion in the science of cybernetics, and as the field seemed to be in desperate need for new creative minds, his father approved. His mother, who had served as a civilian nurse on board the 'Odyssey' with her best friend was not as convinced and hoped for a civilian career path.
Patrick entered the Starfleet Academy class of 2398, holding a Bachelors of Science degree in Cybernetics. He graduated with honors and continued pursuing this career. In a distinguished career as a Starfleet scientist, working with the Daystrom Institute he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander before taking a leave of absence in 2411.
