The Orzaul were a highly advanced species whose empire and gate network spanned the Large Magellanic Cloud over eight million years ago. It is currently theorized that by the time that the Dark and her Apostates rose to power two million years ago that empire had long since fractured and the Orzaul were already on the decline. They were ultimately driven to a nearly complete extinction by the Apostates, though there were a number of Orzaul minds that were saved in a digitized format.
Known Orzaul[]
- Allaya, an Orzaul who was digitized as a child and aged over countless years within virtual space. Formerly used as software by the Tanausan Imperium, she was freed through the combined efforts of a Federation and Imperium refugee science team. Her integration with the Orzaul gates that the Imperium had been using to launch their attacks during the Dawnbreaker War contributed significantly to what allowed the war to ultimately be won by the fleet and Dawn Alliance.
Suspected Orzaul[]
- Viki
- Miki
Gates[]
The Orzaul Gates are massive space structures similar in appearance to the Artesia Gateway, and it is speculated that they were originally based off of that technology. However, the Orzaul gate are smaller than Artesia and their range is more limited. Few are known to still exist, with even fewer being active and within Allaya's network.
Active:
- Gate Alpha: The first gate Allaya took control of. Formerly situated deep in sector 2029 of the LMC, it had been utilized by the Imperium to send their fleets through when the material cost of their wormhole generators became too much of a strain to feasibly sustain. It is currently located near the Citadel.
- Gate Beta: The gate currently located between Tanausa, belonging to the New Tanausan States, and Simiria, belonging to the Laudrenate Republic.
- Gate Delta: A recently discovered gate in the region of space formerly occupied by the Black Ocean.
Appearance[]
The Orzaul were humanoid, with an average height of 2m for males and 1.8m for females. They possessed high cheekbones that were speckled with hard, typically hexagonal scales that tended to be a slightly darker shade than their skin tones, which could vary depending upon their planets of origin.
Culture[]
Much has been lost in regards to Orzaul culture during the height of their empire. In their final years two factions appear to have formed between the last Orzaul, one advocating that advanced technology had been their species' downfall and that they should have never developed past a certain point. Meanwhile the other believed in technological transcendence, and that their advancements had all been in the pursuit of ascending to a higher state of being; to become immortal through their machines. Allaya is the result of the technological transcendence faction, while it is currently speculated that the luddite faction was eventually enslaved and later driven extinct by Apostate forces.
