Octavia Antonia Julia Delancia Aquila

Octavia is the youngest child of Dr. Dahlia DeLancey of Earth, and CPT Marcus Aquila of Magna Roma. She distinguished herself in secondary schooling, and attended the University of Pennsylvania for two years before being accepted to Starfleet Academy and attends at the primary location in San Francisco. Octavia lists the family residence at the DeLancey Place Conservatory as her permanent address.

Octavia was always known as an athletic and precocious child, and declared her choice to cut her own path before the mid-point of her secondary schooling at Liceo Statale Capua. She rebelled against the family responsibilities she was expected to assume from both sides of her family aside, instead choosing her own path. Though known to have a beautiful singing voice, she refused to study music or medicine which were the two paths her mother wished for her. Though she was successful in science courses offered, she chose to eschew science that was the wish of her grandmother and aunt. Octavia, ever a rebel, takes after her father and grew up enamored by the Ludus and gladiatorial games. She wished to follow his example but did not wish to be overshadowed by her family in her career.

Once she was accepted to the academy, in order to avoid the name association with the careers of her mother, father and grandfather, she chose to go by the name "Tavi Antony", an Earth derivation of her name. It was her belief this would allow her to forge her own career without favoritism. She chose to claim her home address to be on Earth, and then attend the Academy on Earth to avoid training at the Magna Roman Academy location where the Commandant would be her grandfather.

Octavia was declared to be the 'Hand of Antonius', empowered to speak for the family by her father Marcus Antonius Telemachus Aquila. Upon graduation Tavi was invited by her grandfather, the Legatus Marcus Antonius Odysseus Maximus Aquila, to join in the family tradition and accept the honorific of Aquila, (the Eagle) as an officer of Starfleet.

Family History[]

The Aquila name is an honorific taken on by Marcus Antonius Odysseus Maximus, who took the name Aquila to indicate his leadership in bringing Magna Romans into the Federation as loyal citizens. This was then taken by his son and heir, Marcus Antonius Telemachus. This became a traditions followed by the members of the Antonius gens, to take the honorific of Aquila for service in Starfleet. The Patrician Magna Roman Gens Antonia traces their lineage by name and history through the transplantation of the population by the Preservers and well into historical days of Rome on Earth in the first century CE of Earth reconning.

The DeLancey family was among the longest known inhabitants of the Vega Colony, with historical ties to France, Ireland and the continental United States Pre-WWIII. The DeLancey clan has close ancestral ties with the Badi, a nomadic tribe of Romani gypsies. Together, it was said that the clan had finally found their true homeland. Having settled in the 22nd century in the Vega Colony, but keeping close ties with Earth, they were proud to have sent sons and daughters to serve in the Federation and Starfleet. The DeLancey family has an estate in trust, managed by the DeLancey Foundation located within the DeLancey Place Conservatory, 2000 DeLancey Place, Philadelphia, PA, Earth. There are also additional estates on Vega, as well as homes on Titan and Luna.
