Mr Jacob S. Daniels, known as Sam Daniels to friends and colleagues, was a civilian engineer working for the San Francisco Fleet Yards. Making his home in San Francisco, Sam Daniels would report to an office for his daily work in downtown San Francisco. While the Fleet Yards are in geosynchronous orbit his work rarely took him to the orbital satellites. As a theoretical physicist and engineer, Sam Daniels was critical in the field of design for Warp Propulsion systems.
Sam Daniels was a family man, having married a visiting researcher T'Lon of the K'Shara Center of Vulcan in 2365, they settled in San Francisco for his work and started a family. They had a daughter they named Kira Su in 2369
