Managing Partner of Record, Eruditus Group Law Firm, based out Cambridge, England. Though Barrister Cochrane is the youngest partner of the firm, his elevation to Managing Partner was due to his skill and aptitude, though it has been suggested it has more to do with charisma.
Biography[]
Ian Cochrane is from Inverness Scotland, son of Ian Lachlan Cochrane, BL. of Cochrane, McGuire and Dunn. Young Ian, as he was referred to at home, was a precocious child and always seeking excitement much to the dismay of his mother Lena. Young Ian was popular at school, an avid athlete and student with top marks. It was little surprise to his father when he was given scholarship to Oxford University for both his degree and post graduate law degree.
Ian Alasdair Cochrane was recruited out of Oxford to the Eruditus Group by retiring partner Alan Boyle, BL. in 2420. He was assigned the DeLancey Foundation account, which on paper appeared to be simply a maintenance account. This was proved to be a prestigious honor, and one that would draw attention to the firm and expand clientele over the next five years significantly. It was after a number of successful high profile events and accounts that he was made a Managing Partner.
Notable:
- Establishment of the Vega Recolonization Application in 2421(ce). The Vega United group acts representing Vega Colony Survivors and a group of Liberated Borg who have joined with them, to regain rights to Vega IX which was still quarantined by Starfleet following the Borg Collective incursion and assimilation of the planet. All legal expenses of the effort are to be paid by the Vega Survivors Fund established by the DeLancey Foundation in 2410 on behalf of the heiress to the Delancey Trust, which was divided to create it. The Law Suite in UFP Courts was brought representing not only this group, but in conjunction with the DFIG who still claimed mineral rights, and DFIG Affiliates; Vega Transport Union, Vegan Industrial Minerals, Vega Industrial Collective, Independent Miner's Cooperative Vega System (IMC-VEGA)..
- Establishment of the FPMA-Trust, which is a divestment of 1/3rd of the investment asset value of the DeLancey Foundation for the Preservation of Music and the Arts in order to make available financial, physical and logistical support for other worlds who wish to partner with the DeLancey Foundation in its mission across the United Federation of Planets. The first world to accept this mission support is Magna Roma, of which the FPMA-Magna Roma predates the new trust and proved to be inspiration and proof of concept to encourage the divestment and creation of the FPMA-Trust.
- Ian Cochrane, BL. is also the personal attorney of record for the Delancey Trust heiress Dahlia Delancey, who co-sponsored the creation of the FPMA-Magna Roma from personal funds as part of her show of solidarity with the Magna Roman people following her marriage to one of the Patrician heirs of that world.
