The Holographic Personal Assistant was a tool originally developed by Dr. Lewis Zimmerman, one of the foremost experts on holographic technology at the time and inventor of the Emergency Medical Hologram. The original was a personal project that became both friend and caretaker to the Dr. Zimmerman. She had been active long enough that it was believed she had become truly sentient. She was named Haley.
Years later, building off of Dr. Zimmerman's work, the team at UFP contractor HSI developed a series of civilian versions of their software. While the original coding of an HPA was Haley, out of respect for her and Dr. Zimmerman, the marketable version of the HPA is based on her code but has her image locked out to ensure disambiguation.
The HPA contains the capacity for modular programming. The basic holomatrix provides for a customizable personality, and necessary skillsets; clerical, communications, organization, project planning, research, documentation, negotiation, and finance. Additional skillsets commonly included are; entertaining, hospitality, culinary, personal service, domestics, and medical attendant.
The modular programming capacity of the HPA is somewhat unique, as it resulted from the continuing research based on records returned with USS Voyager in 2378 concerning experiments with their EMH. Specialized skillsets that are complex enough normally to require a specialized construct can be loaded as a skillset module. Modules are rated at "Competent Skill Level"
The success of the Emergency Medical Hologram program has also given rise to the Emergency Engineering Hologram and the Emergency Security Hologram. The constructs so dedicated will always have superior skillset/background and simulated experience to function in their position when compared to that of a skillset module loaded into another construct. This fact keeps the modular holographic constructs from replacing dedicated constructs, but in a situation in which either processor or memory capacity is insufficient to maintain multiple specialized constructs a modular construct will most often prove competent enough to be of aid.
If granted access, the HPA may be capable of loading or exchanging modules when needed, initiating a restart on their own to engage the module.
The Holographic Personal Assistant is designed from the ground up to be adaptive, maintaining a database of interactions in order to facilitate machine learning. Given a task, it will learn from mistakes and adapt methods and methodologies in order to be more efficient when performing the same or similar tasks in the future. These databases are heuristical, and indexed to allow for rapid access, and not requiring them to be loaded into the program matrix at start up. This method of learning, not only allows the database to be shared, it allows the software to be restarted regularly, without having to re-learn skills or information that may be vital to successful interactions. These basic concepts are incorporated in all the HSI Holographic Aids, but in the Holographic Personal Assistant they are utilized to a deep degree due to the wide variety of tasks that may be required.
Relevant factors exist not only of computer and power resources but of relative cost may also be a driving factor in choices made for Holographic Aid usage. HSI can provide a purchase license per a single service matrix which will grant the End User perpetual use and full autonomy to make adjustments up to the maximum[A] capacity, or a user license that allows for an entire suite of matrices to be available and payment is on a use basis per contract license period.[B][C].

Legality[]
The Holographic Aid is not considered sentient at deployment, although they do have the capability to become sentient with extended use. As such, standard deployment includes an automatic restart every 14 days to reset, and reload pertinent data. UFP sentience guidelines are to be followed as it becomes necessary, with potential for recognition legally and rights bestowed. (Pending)
Background[]
Holographic Solutions Incorporated (HSI) is based out of Catalina City, Titan. HSI is an incorporated civilian organization known for contracting for the UFP and member states providing computer simulations and holographic simulacrum for service positions. Products of HSI cover a range of on demand service positions; household cleaning staff and groundskeepers, personal chefs and waitstaff, childcare, personal assistance, medical doctors, medical assistants and orderlies, elder care nursing aids, transport pilots and navigators, personal protection services, and just about any other specialized moderately skilled position imaginable. Product licenses are purchased or leased under contract subject to an End Users License Agreement. Software modification is limited at time of purchase, and subject to review, rollback, and cancellation of license if EULA is violated.

Definitions[]
[1] A catalogue of minor knowledge skillsets that allow for the monitoring and diagnosing of a shuttle or small ship's functions, as well as ability to render work around or minor repairs.
[2] A catalogue of basic skillsets required for flight operations of the shuttle, ranging from Co-pilot operations, Astro-Navigation, and defensive systems operations, to primary pilot operations.
[3] A catalogue of skillsets borrowed from the HSI EMT program, to be laid over an existing matrix frameset. *Note: It is never advisable to depend on an EMT unit for all care. They are intended for Triage and stabilization only, seek a medical facility once stabilized if injured.
[4a] A catalogue of Tactical skillsets only intended for self defense, evasion and escape. The module once loaded permits the HPA to access tactical systems of a shuttle or small ship in order to aid in the defense of the client. Inhibitors are programmed into the HPA to restrict any attempt to perform belligerent acts.
