Government[]
The Dominion is primarily governed by the Founders. The founders are a morphogenic species capable of altering their shape and physical properties at will. Highly intelligent and orderly, the Founders rule the Dominion indirectly through the Vorta, a genetically engineered species that focuses their talents on diplomacy, bureaucracy, and scientific research. Trade and other activities are facilitated by various servitor species, such as the Karemma.
Military[]
The Dominion military consists almost entirely of Jem'hadar, genetically-engineered soldiers who are exceptional at all areas of combat. Jem'hadar units are typically commanded by a Vorta, with the Jem'hadar ranked sequentially as First, Second, etc. The Vorta will issue orders to the First, who will then delegate these orders to the rest of the men and deal discipline as needed. The Vorta has the authority to promote or demote Jem'hadar at will based on their performance, and is also responsible for distributing ketracel white, an engineered substance that is the only needed nutrition for the Jem'hadar.
Starships[]
Dominion starships are typically triangular in shape, with exception to the attach ship, which has a more beetle-like shape. Dominion ships are often a dark purple in color, with warp nacelles that glow a purplish-pink color. For weaponry, Dominion ships use phased polaron beams and quantum torpedoes.
During wartime, the Dominion has been known to utilize servitor ships to assist in battle. This was seen during the Dominion War when Cardassian and Breen ships fought alongside Dominion ships in several battles.

History[]
The Dominion was founded approximately 10,000 years ago by the Founders, following extensive persecution on their home planet. The founders, wanting to avoid such persecution in the future, decided to create a Dominion and bring order to the chaos of their quadrant. The began experiments into genetic engineering, which produced successful results in the Vorta and Jem'hadar. These two species would fill the roles of diplomacy and defense respectively, and would become, as various Jem'hadar explained, "the way of things." According to Weyoun 8, the Dominion had "never surrendered in battle since its founding 10,000 years ago." This record would only be broken at the end of the Dominion War, when a combined alliance of the Federation, Romulans, and Klingons managed to force a surrender at Cardassia.
