Class Development Project Patch
Class Development Project Patch

At the advent of the latest conflict with the Klingons, and in direct response to the Negh'var's Heavy Disruptors, Starfleet comissioned a retrofitting program of existing ships. The most successful retrofit was the Dreadnought subtype of the Galaxy class. Unlike the standard version, the dreadnought subtype replaces most of the scientific and relaxation areas with combat-specific equipment, armor, and structural support, as well as additional weapons, improved computer and more powerful systems.

The USS Devron was the first starship to retrofit to this new style, and is therefore considered the first of its class. As such, all dreadnoughts of this type have been classed as the Devron class. Since that time, several other ships have been constructed to this standard, rather than being retrofit.  Unfortunately, the Devron is expensive and time-consuming to retrofit or construct, and remains in severely limited numbers throughout Starfleet.

Ships of the class:[]

  • USS Devron (NCC-71047) (retrofit from Galaxy class)
  • USS Victory (NCC-71147) (retrofit from Galaxy class)
  • USS Venture (NCC-71854) (retrofit from Galaxy class)
  • U.S.S. Yamato (NCC-71807-A) (retrofit from Galaxy class)
  • USS Nimitz (NCC-92068-C)
  • USS November (NCC-93199) (destroyed)
  • USS Orlando (NCC-93280) (destroyed)
  • USS Antaeus (NCC-93515)

SPECIFICATIONS[]

Physical Arrangement:[]

The Dreadnought subtype matches the Galaxy-class with the exception of a few improvements. A third warp nacelle was added for redundancy and increased field geometry control. A high-powered phaser lance was added to the underside of the ship, and cannon emplacements were added on either side of the primary bridge module. Additionally, the engineering section's original impulse engine was replaced by a more powerful impulse array.

Propulsion Systems:[]

  • 3 Warp Nacelles, maximum safe velocity 9.999 (9.99999 achievable)
  • 4 Impulse Engines

Tactical Systems:[]

Phaser Beam Emitters:[]
Torpedo Launchers:[]
  • Torpedo Launchers (x2 fore, x1 aft, each capable of firing up to 5 torpedoes simultaneously)
Deflector Shields:[]
  • Standard Shields (double strength)
Armor/Hull:[]
  • Ablative Hull Armor
  • Reinforced Hull Plating
