CLASS DESCRIPTION[]
Operational as early as 2368, the Danube class was designed to be more independent than shuttles already in service. Equipped with a warp drive capable of up to warp 5, the Danube could travel anywhere within Federation space independently of a full-size starship, and was equipped with weaponry to defend itself from hostile ships.
The first combat usage of the Danube was recorded from Deep Space 9, as the station defended itself from both the Cardassians and The Dominion. On several occasions, the Danube has been successful in disabling or even destroying full-size starships, and has been an invaluable asset to the station's defenses.
