Biography[]
Catherine Irena McNale (Morgan), liking to be called "Rena" by her friends, grew up on the British Isle, Earth. The child of educators at the new Birmingham Ormiston Academy, it seemed to be a natural course for her to take. Where her path differed was her choice. Rena was considered to be near a prodigy as a Violinist. Pursuit of her art often conflicted with her studies, but eventually she found a balance.
While attending the same University where her parents held Tenure, Rena changed to a major of Music History in her junior year. It was in those classes she met the love of her life, Mick. Clarence "Mick" McNale, was a visiting student from Philadelphia who claimed to fall in love with her based upon passing by a practice room in the Music department and hearing her play. He said he was drawn to her in like form as magnetism, but once he saw her face so peaceful in concentration as she played the Violin solo from "Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade" he could never look away from her again, and could not even breath until she stopped playing at the end of the movement.
Though they had discussed marriage, Rena's family was adamant the she remain in England, and Mick had a position awaiting him in Philadelphia he already to which he was obligated. They cohabitated for two years during their post graduate studies, and aided each other in their Masters thesis preparations. Once complete though, they spent one more summer together and then went separate ways, though remained in touch.
Two years later Rena completed her doctorate and surprised both her family and Mick when she left a position offered at Ormiston Academy, and arrived at Mick's place of work without notice. On bended knee, a tradition centuries old, she asked him to take her back and enter into marriage with her. Her exact words were "You said I had to make a decision, I did, now make me an honest woman". Mick's Father, the Managing Director of the Delancey foundation where she had found them, offered her a job on the spot.
Rena Morgan, a music historian and violinist took work with the foundation. She and Mick were married the following summer and the Dean of Philadelphia University, gifted Mick his second Masters Degree Certificate in a silver frame as a wedding present. After less than a year of marriage, their only child Edward was born. Mick would work as a preservationist, later Chief Preservationist, for 20 years as they raised their son daily in the halls of the Conservatory.
Mick & Rena dreamed of Edward joining them in what they both felt was very important work for the future of humanity, but Edward would choose differently. Edward fell in love while attending Prep school, with a girl from San Francisco who planned to go to Starfleet Academy when the session was over. Their son did not do well enough in school to be accepted to the Academy, but chose to enlist. Mick approved of the girl, but not the career. Edward left home against advice to go enlist.
Unfortunately, seeing their son leave home was not the worst for them. A month later, Director Cillian McNale passed away. Four years later they lost Rena's father, Mick's mother, and their son Edward.
Mick & Rena had for all intents adopted in every way but legally the last surviving member of the DeLancey family in 2410. While she was still a teenager, but legally an adult, there was never any need for a legal adoption. They were very pleased as time went on to be able to continue to be as family, and overjoyed when the children of Ms. DeLancey considered them grandparents. Rena was quite clear of her joy at being part of the extended family when Ms. DeLancey married and even more so at the children. It is a bittersweet joy due to the loss of their own son without issue. Mick is known to be a good grandfather to the children, and as of this writing still attempting to recruit both into the work at the Foundation.
Catherine Irena McNale (Morgan) passed away in her sleep of an undiagnosed brain aneurism on 08-23-2444 at the age of 96.
