Ailsa Serafino was an officer in Starfleet, lost in the Anevian Incident.
Ailsa was the child of Karis Walias of Izarian citizenship, and Terry Serafino of Earth. She attended the Starfleet Academy and continued on her career in tactical pursuits. When queried, her reason to join was due to the untimely death of her mother, who was a victim of the Borg.
Unironically, during a battle with the Borg, Ailsa herself was captured, and converted to a Borg drone. Several years later, she was recovered from the collective, and due to treatments she was able to be returned to humanity. Unfortunately due to certain implants not being able to be replaced by the genetic therapy, Ailsa was not able to avail herself of the treatment. Most of her implants were organically replaced with cloned replacements, but several of her implants in her brain and spinal cord were not replaceable. As of her last treatment, she had yet to allow organic replacement of her eyes, she still used cybernetic eye implants.
As an affect, during the several years awaiting treatment, Ailsa hid her eyes behind mirrored glasses. She still continued that affectation as of the Anevian Incident.
