The 22nd Mobile Fleet is one of Starfleet's premier forward-deployed multi-divisional rapid-response force.
At present, it is one of the largest of the forward-deployed numbered fleets, with 80 to 90 ships, over 300 support craft and around 40,000 Starfleet personnel. With the support of its Operational Directors and Task Force Commanders, it currently has the following major assignments:
- Joint Task Force command in a natural disaster or joint military operation,
- Exploration of previously uncharted areas in the region.
History
The 22nd Mobile was founded on Stardate 84144.54 (February 22, 2410), and placed under the command of Admiral Spenta Myrunjia. The fleet has changed significantly over the years, and has been based out of multiple locations, including K-7 and Deep Space Nine. The fleet now has a home at Starbase 220, with a forward base at the Citadel.
Operations
Of the 80 - 90 ships typically assigned to 22nd Mobile, 75% operate from Starfleet facilities throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. These forward-deployed units represent the heart of 22nd Mobile, and operate across multiple Starfleet Operational Commands.
